Gal Gael AGM

THE NEWS that Galgael Trust will be moving, was announced at their annual general meeting in November.
Director, Colin MacLeod said, 'We are still in the final stages of discussions to secure our new home. I can't say too much but if all goes well, we should be moving in early next year. Once we've moved in, we will be launching our new project called 'Navigating The Future', which is open to anybody over the age of 16. Anyone
who wants to learn about boat building and other skills which will benefit them in the future, should get in touch.'
A piper and fiddle player entertained the many people who attended the evening of business ant1 pleasure when the past year's achievements wen praised and future plans were discussed.
The AGM was also the time for the launch of the Trust's Annual Report. It contains some riveting success stories including that of Billy O'Hara who was chosen through the Royal Institute of Architects in Scotland Millennium to create a silver Pictish styled chain to be worn at the Govan Fair by the winning appprentice of the year.
The other inspirational story was of the voyage of the Orcuan to the Magnus Barelegs Festival in Northern Ireland. The crew beat stiff opposition to pick up the trophy. They comprised young unemployed people and retired craftsmen. They sailed and rowed all the way to Ireland and back home to Govan in the Galgael birlinn boat 'Orcuan'.
