Free Mrs Anastasia Ndaya and Children.

Press Statement: Free Mrs Anastasia Ndaya and Children.

Demonstrate against detention and deportation:

Wednesday 20th April, 11:30am, at Scottish Immigration Enforcement Unit, Brand Street, Govan

On the 15th March, Mrs Anastasia NDAYA was arrested and detained by the Immigration services from the signing office in Glasgow and taken to Dungavel Centre without her four children, aged 18 months - 9 years

The children were looked after by the African Community in Glasgow to avoid any precipitated removal of the family, but after being put under pressure by the immigration authorities, the children were handed over into detention on 14th April. The African Community in Glasgow is suffering deeply and concerned about the safety of this family if taken back in Angola.

Mrs Anastasia's lawyers had lodged a bail application that will be heard on Thursday 21st April 2005 at 10.00 O'clock. The removal direction issued by Home Office for Tuesday the 19th April has been withdrawn. Her lawyers are going to lodge a Judicial Review before this coming bail hearing.

The whole family has now been transferred to Yarls Wood Detention Centre since Sunday 17th April 2005 in early morning despite the fact that her bail hearing will be heard in Glasgow where the family has all the support including her lawyers.

The Pentecostal Church of Redemption, Lisalisi Project Scotland and The Glasgow Campaign to Welcome Refugees are organising a demonstration on the Wednesday 20th April 2005 from 11.30 am to 1.00 pm in front of the Home Office at Brand Street, Ibrox, Glasgow to support this family to be released
and granted a Leave to Remain in this country.
