What else can you think - Propaganda (Blog)

When you watch some film footage of kids protesting about a wall being built through the middle of their village, the percussion grenades going off all around them, as masked soldiers shoot at their parents - What else do you think, but of your own child.

What else can you think - when the concrete wall seals off, not only the village, but the very daily existence of the villagers. It's an impossibility to even go to school - in your own country - but of your own child. For some Palestinian children this is their past, and their present. But should it be their future - Should we let it be their future - because their future lies behind the same propaganda, that oppresses ourselves.

Propaganda, protects us from contemplating, even a fraction, of the misery that would have us weeping, by the slaughter of kids, kids just like our own children, who have only known a life of trauma. Propaganda protects us from the smiling faces of the same kids as they sing their songs of defiance and stand alongside their parents, their grandparents and their neighbours as they face the invading enemy. For if we are to see them as kids - the same as yours or mine, would make it to difficult for us to stomach, If we were even to imagine the sight of their small fragile bodies, blown to bits. To see a Palestinian, or Israeli mother for that matter, holding the battered remains of a dead child - can only make us reflect, if it was our own.

The blanket of propaganda protects us from this. Propaganda allows us to live our lives unimpeded by life. It allows us to imagine that what is being perpetrated against our, so called, enemies, (ordinary folk who love and try to protect their families, just like you or me) is for our own good. Propaganda invades every aspect of our lives. It protects us from the atrocities of empires, while persuading us to invest in the abstractions that locks our servility to our murderous masters.

We don't believe it's happening because there are crimes that begger belief. We need to justify in some way, the inevitability, our lack of response and our inability to do anything. We have become adept at censoring our very thoughts, to accept the inducements that are fed to us, in order to live our fettered, lifestyle, almost unaware of, or disconnected from the meaning of freedom.

While we sit in front of our boxes and get tearful at the phony and wallow in the heroism, of Hollywood - the produce of the very corporations, that orchestrate and finance, global misery. We seem to have lost the ability to even remember, or to quietly weep for the real heroes who suffer for the cause of freedom. The ordinary people who stand defiantly unarmed, in front of the guns.

Propaganda has also disconnected us from our innate sense of what is right or wrong and replaced it with the quick-fix, of consumption, distraction, and blind faith - that will in turn consume us.
Our education system does nothing, to warn or protect our kids from propaganda, but rather, encourages them to pursue careers in the public relations, that disguise a career as business propagandist - or in the oppression of their fellow workers as the only way to success.

It is the same propaganda that attacks our humanitarian, feelings, for other people, of other lands, to allow us to blissfully live in the ignorant belief of western [moral] superiority - Underfoot the cultures that produced the forbearer's of civilisation are crushed, to serve one of western propagandas greatest fallacies - That we are a model for democracy.

What the purveyors of state and business, propaganda are aware of much more than us, is. If the domestic enemy, [the public] start to act in any sphere, of their lives, through their own reasoned, thoughts and interests. Then If they start to intervene and to question, issues, that directly and morally, affect them, the propaganda machine would collapse.

When we see the suffering, of other people, it is suffering. We do not need to wait for cause and effect, nor a reason, from anyone, to decide whether we should help. We act, usually by dint of our reasoning, as human beings. Propaganda, is capitalism’s, counteraction, to human reason, which is why it has to scream so loud, to drown out, distract and attempt to neutralise, any action, that threatens the power of the powerful.
