Get to know your city

One of the best ways to discover or check out the city is to act like a tourist.

Walk into town. Walk up lanes you have never been up before. Go into shops you don't normally use.Talk to people. Ask directions. Get on the wrong bus. Take your time and look at things closely. Pretend your a statue. Watch the shoppers and think of how the pyramids were built.

Or better, do it with other people, take photographs, talk to the people on building sites, passers by, building users. Its amazing what you can find out. Not everyone will think your a nutter for being interested. I have often wondered why people are so keen to ask questions of habit, art, science and such like in cultural institutions, but can remain mute in the cultural wonder of the street.

Tell me what you think
