How do we start
We need to start thinking and talking about it. For one, it helps to set up thoughts in your own head, and two, by speaking to other people you can test your ideas, get others opinions and encourage them to participate.
As usual with new ideas, people may think that you are daft. But you need to remember this: people are entrenched in what they see as a "no give" situation; they are either tired from working all day, or depresssed that they do not have the opportunity of working all day. One needs to be sympathetic to their needs, in order to accommodate their needs into new ideas that will benefit all involved. (this is what participation is about)
You don't have any ideas? No one has any ideas until someone has one. What is important is you get in a position that will encourage ideas. Write things down as you think about them. Go to the library, talk to people. Sit and stare at the wall and concentrate, meditate; you may think that nothing is happening, but, if you put the time in, things will happen. Ideas will emerge. Talk to children if you need to discuss ideas about fairness, and how the world should be.
Most people know that capitalism is bad for them. This is why such an unbalanced economic system needs a massive propaganda machine to work for it - to convince people that capitalism is the only way. The instigators of such a system know that, if people are left to their own devices, they will cooperate with one another. This is capitalism's biggest worry. This is why America, and its allies go around the world invading any small country that dares to try and operate under a democratic government, chosen and supported by its people.
It is therefore important that we communicate ideas and thoughts with each other. Not only about what is wrong, but about how we can improve our lot. We need also to channel the energies that help us to perceive what is wrong into a vision of what is right. There are more of "us" than there are of "them". If we communicate with each other in our ideas for change, we will already have begun, and we will have answered the first question - "How do we start?".

TINA (There is no alternative Thatcher)
Talking back to Chomsky It strikes me that it is not at all obvious what we should do, and that by implying that it is, we risk making people feel stupid, when in fact they are quite right to ask the question, "What should I do?"
